NOTIFICATION LIST PROCESSING

Notification lists will be produced on February 10th, 17th and 24th.

Beginning in March notification lists will be run every other week.

The Academic Excellence notification lists will be produced on February 10th.

CHANGE PENDING FOR NOTIFICATION LISTS

Beginning with the 2004-2005 school year, we are planning to cut back on the number of notification lists. We plan to run lists every week in July and August, and every week in December and January. The other eight months, notification lists will be run every-other week. If you have suggestions or concerns about this, please let me know. I would like feedback about the impact on your offices before we make a final decision! Connie.hutchison@heab.state.wi.us

PROBLEMS WITH CHILD SUPPORT - Work through County and DWD

Please remind affected students that Child Support issues affecting their state financial aid must be corrected by the Bureau of Child Support, which is part of the Department of Workforce Development (DWD). We have been working closely and collaboratively with DWD on this issue. HEAB does not do manual changes and corrections for child support on our lists. Students with problems getting financial aid because their name is still on the Child Support Lien Docket should contact their county agency, or contact DWD, Bureau of Child Support directly.

WHEG - UW
Effective January 24, 2004 additional WHEG-UW commitments were suspended.

  1. Existing WHEG-UW awards were frozen and will appear on the notification list with a Z report code. File maintenance processed through HEAB or the Federal Processor will not change the WHEG awards reported on your notification list.

  2. WHEG-UW awards will not calculate for new applicants. These students will appear on the notification list with a zero award and a W report code. File maintenance processed through HEAB or the Federal Processor will not change the zero WHEG awards reported on your notification list.

TG
Because of the valiant efforts of Mary Lou and the FAO's of the private colleges, spring awards will not have to be reduced. In December, the committed numbers were such that an across the board cut seemed imminent. Many thanks to WAICU, the FAO's and Mary Lou for working hard to bring the committed numbers down!

Nursing Student Loan:
Schools should submit their 2nd semester voucher request for this program directly to Cindy Lehrman via email at cindy.lehrman@heab.state.wi.us. Voucher requests for this program are run through a special process on Wednesdays. Contact Cindy directly if you have questions.

Minority Retention Grants not committed on 01/31/04 will be re-allocated to other schools that need the funds.

Student Representative for the Wisconsin Technical College System
Gateway Technical College
Colleen's term runs through May 1, 2007. We look forward to meeting Colleen on February 27th, and working with her at upcoming Board meetings!

The next training session will be held Thursday, March 18th. The program begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends no later than 3:00 p.m. It is held at the HEAB offices at 131 W. Wilson St, Suite 902, Madison, WI. We have room for up to 6 people at each session.
