The Monthly Memo
December 1, 1997
Again, I encourage the submission of names of other staff members within your department or
school who would like to be included on the mailing list for this monthly memo.
- 1997-98 notification lists and other associated reports were printed 11/5/97 (mailed
11/5/97) and 11/19/97 (mailed 11/19/97.) December print dates have been scheduled for 12/5/97,
12/17/97, and 12/26/97. Please continue to cross reference your student record data with the
notification list information.
- December's vouchering jobs have been scheduled for 12/9/97, 12/12/97, 12/16/97,
12/19/97, and 12/26/97. HEAB will be closed December 24th, 25th, and 31st along with January 1st.
Please plan your vouchering requests accordingly. Keep in mind that it takes two to three business
days after the vouchering process runs before checks are physically printed. Contact me if you have
any questions. It is very important that you request funds for students who are registered or who
you know will indeed be attending your school. This will assist in reducing the number of refunds
that are processed. Please refer to your October Monthly Memo, under point
three, which references what must be included when submitting refunds to HEAB and the timeframe in
which funds must be returned.
- Due to additional 1997-98 WHEG and WTG funding that has been made available, grant
adjustments will be made to student awards for this academic year. I will communicate the changes to
you in a separate memo.
- The FY98 Labor-HHS and Education Appropriation Bill HR-22-64 which funds SSIG $25
million passed the House and Senate and was signed by the President. The National Association of
State Student Grants and Aid Programs is pleased that its members along with many others had an
impact in securing funds for FY98. At one point the program was zero funded. FY97 appropriation was
- A great deal of HEAB staff time in November was spent preparing and delivering
information to High School Counselors around the state at various workshops. We are pleased that
they went quite well. Each of us at HEAB would like to thank the hosts of each site for the warm
welcome and assistance!
- Once again for the few schools that are using tapes or cartridges, we encourage you
to try to convert as soon as possible to FTP, email, or diskette. We will soon not be able to
accommodate the use of either tapes or cartridges. Please let me know if there is anything HEAB can
do to assist you in the conversion. Thank you.
- Just a reminder that our general HEAB email address that all file maintenance
changes, adds, and voucher requests should be sent to is:
